KINDRAWARES OPENS IN COOLAMON

29 Nov 2012 10:06 AM -

The Coolamon Shire continues to thrive, with the recent opening of an original gift and homewares shop, Kindrawares.

Sisters, Donna and Lisa decided now was the perfect time to open their dream shop.

With the idea of opening her own special little shop rolling around for a few years, Donna only decided to really act on her idea after attending the Coolamon Shire Thriving and Surviving workshop in August this year.

“When I listened to Kate Barclay from Bendy Street Emporium at Canowindra speak about her experiences with her shop, I just thought this would be a good time to think about opening my own shop.”

One call to her sister later and Donna had a partner in Kindrawares.

“We wanted to come up with a unique name for the shop, not used anywhere else in the world!”

So to connect Donna and Lisa as sisters they came up with the idea of using "kin" in the name.

“I know that Coolamon is known for the Kindra Forest and Kindra is the name of one of the oldest original farming properties in the Shire, so "Kindrawares" became the name.”

Having always been big on finding unique gifts for her family and friends Donna uses the same philosophy in the shop.

“Now I can just widen my searches to find unique stock for the shop that Coolamon has never seen before!”

Located in the beautiful, heritage Cowabbie Street, Kindrawares offers unique giftware and homewares with only a few pieces of each item so that it remains "special".

Stock is sourced from all over the world (USA and Germany) as well as Australia.

“It’s just beautiful stuff that we love ourselves and hopefully our customers do too!  We sourced handmade jewellery from Western Australia and Tasmania.  Both Lisa and I have also been making a few handmade items for the shop as well so there is something a bit different.”

With business already booming, and new stock arriving constantly, just in time for Christmas, Kindrawares is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
