Ardlethan - Frank Bradley Statue Unveiling Ceremony and Community Morning

Saturday 13 May 2017
9am - 1pm
In 1937, local Ardlethanite Frank Bradley won the famous Stawell Gift, Australia's richest footrace. To commemorate that feat and the 80th anniversary of Frank’s win, Advance Ardlethan and the Bradley family have commissioned well-known Riverina artist Andrew Whitehead to design and build a statue of Frank made from recycled metal material.
Over the last two years, fundraising to collect the $17,000 cost became the main focus of the Advance Ardlethan committee by way of concerts, raffles and trivia nights. The Bradley family generously contributed and along with other contributions from community members, Coolamon Council and Advance Ardlethan, the cost was covered.
A special unveiling ceremony will be the main feature at around midday on 13th April at Ariah Street, Ardlethan. Stawell Gift President Neil Blizzard and local government member Michael McCormack will officiate along with representatives from local government.

Market stalls and novelty races for kids will be in the park from 9am.

There will be tables of specials and bargains available from local business houses.

In the Memorial Hall, the Advance Ardlethan Committee will have delicious refreshments for those wishing to sit and relax at morning tea and lunch.

A collection of true arts and craft will be on display in the hall to complement the whole market atmosphere. Andrew and Daphne Whitehead will have some of their artworks for sale so remember that the early bird catches the worm as items will be limited and some are true collectibles.

Bradley Lads Shaun and Justin are an acoustic duo based in Sydney’s inner west and they will be performing during the morning. Shaun plays piano and guitar and with Justin on vocals and trumpet they add a dynamic vibe to a wide range of musical styles from Pop and RnB, Jazz and Easy Listening.

Lunch will also be available from Ardlethan's cafes, club and hotel.

Overall, the morning will be a great family day with something for everybody so come along on 13th May and be a part of this history-making event!
