Excitement is building for Coolamon Shire’s latest event, ‘Coolgrass’ a bluegrass music concert, which will be held on Saturday 21 July 2012 at “Holy Basil”, the Old Methodist Church corner Mirrool St and Loughnan St, Coolamon.
The event will run from 7.30pm – 10.30 and will showcase local and intrastate bluegrass and folk musicians including the Selkie Band (Sydney), The Butcher Boys String Band (Wollongong), Quentin Fraser (Wollongong), Mark Mulhearn (Wagga), and the Downtown Pickers (Wagga).
Linda Tillman, Business & Tourism Development Manager said Coolgrass will add to the exciting and ever-expanding list of arts and cultural events on the Coolamon Shire calendar.
“Coolamon Shire is becoming renowned for its range of arts and cultural events, and Coolgrass brings a new and exciting event to the region,” Linda said.
“Coolgrass is being held over the opening weekend of the popular Up-2-Date Art Exhibition which will provide an added benefit to the art lovers that flock to the Shire during this time. Musicians will also add to the atmosphere of the Coolamon Winter Markets which will be held in Cowabbie Street on Sunday 22 July from 9.00am to 1.00pm.”
“Holding these three key events over the one weekend will help the town to attract more visitors and really establish itself as an arts and cultural destination. We hope to incorporate more events and activities into the weekend in coming years,” Linda said.
Coolgrass tickets cost $30 per person and include 2.5 hours of entertainment and Asian and Middle-Eastern canapés during intermission. Drinks are BYO. Tickets can be purchased at the Coolamon Country Bakehouse, Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory, Don Tuckwell Audio in Wagga or Trail St Coffee Shop in Wagga. Expressions of interest are also being taken for bus transfers from Wagga at an approximate cost of $27 per person.
